It's berry season in the Midwest, which can only mean one thing – time to bake everything with berries and indulge in some serious yumminess! My Mixed Berry Cobbler is the ultimate tribute to summer, with a glorious riot of berrylicious flavors that'll have you doing a happy dance. If you do not have any fresh berries on hand don't fret, my recipe even allows you to use frozen berries. Making this recipe a win win all around.
Ingredients
- Mixed berries - I like to use raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries
- Milk - I used 2% milk for this recipe
- Melted unsalted butter - I use unsalted butter to control the amount of salt in the recipe

Variations
- Berries - Not a raspberry fan? That's ok! Feel free to add in or take out what type of berries are your favorite.
- Ice Cream - I love to serve this cobbler with vanilla ice cream!
- Whipped Cream - Is also a great compliment to add to the baked cobbler.
- Lemon Juice - Add a tablespoon of lemon juice if you are using fresh berries. This will really bring out the flavors.
Equipment
Equipment can have a big impact on how this recipe turns out. I would recommend using the following equipment:
- 8X8 Metal or ceramic baking dish
- Mixing bowls
- Whisk
- Pastry cutter or fork
Instructions
- Step 1: In a ceramic 8X8 baking dish, pour in your selection of berries. Spread them out evenly in the dish.
- Step 2: In a small bowl, combine sugars, and pour this over the berries.
- Step 3: In a medium bowl, combine salt, baking powder, flour, milk, and whisked egg. Once combined, crumble it over the berries. Making sure to fully cover them. Bake uncovered for 30-40 minutes or until golden brown.
- Step 4: Once your cobbler is golden brown, remove it from the oven and let it cool for about 30 minutes. Once cooled top with additional sugar mixture if desired.
Hint: Use your hands to spread out the flour topping.
Storage
Store the cobbler in the refrigerator in an air-tight container for up to 4 days.
I would not recommend freezing this cobbler. It will become mushy.
FAQ
There is too much moisture. When making cobbler always consider the amount of moisture each type of berries you add. Frozen berries will give off moisture too. It is best to select berries that are close in size for this recipe.
